What 𫏶 means

It is linked to 挾, whose early gloss is “to hold.”

Shuowen Jiezi, a Han-era character dictionary completed around 100 CE, glosses 挾 as “to hold.” Classical examples show arrows at a bow and tools carried to work; dictionary senses also include hiding, relying on rank and coercing. That date is for 挾; 𫏶 is its listed 車-based variant.

What does 𫏶肥 mean?

It is a local Hakka compound for compost.

Four Counties is a Hakka variety spoken in Taiwan. A fieldwork glossary from Dahuhu Village, Pitou, Changhua records 𫏶肥 (gau55 pi11 in Latin letters) for compost made by soaking plants and animal or human waste in water. The Hakka reading applies to the compound, not 𫏶 alone.

1

Why does 𫏶 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension C block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
