What 𬮝 means
A simplified form linked to a childlike Jixi word for dog. In a 2026 dictionary record, 𬮇 is listed as a childish word for “dog” in Jixi, and 狗𬮇 as a longer form with the same sense. 𬮝 is an analogically simplified written form of 𬮇. Jixi is a county in the historic Huizhou region, now part of Anhui Province in China.
Who created 𬮝?
A 2007 account credits modern Chinese writer Hu Shi. It says he created 𬮇/𬮝 to write local Huizhou speech. The year dates the published account, not the pair’s creation.
