What 𬶽 means
𬶽 is an old bronze form of 䳍, a pheasantlike bird name. An index of Yin and Zhou bronze inscriptions traces it to an inscription on vessel 1831.
An old gloss describes 䳍 as a pheasantlike bird that calls its own name; modern zoological Chinese also uses 䳍 for tinamous, a group of ground-dwelling birds native to Central and South America. In Word 2016–2024 and Microsoft 365, type 2CDBD and press AltX; if another hexadecimal digit comes before the code, select only the code first. Some French and German Word editions use AltC instead.
