What 𭀎 means
It marks sound in a Buddhist chant, not an everyday word.
In the Chinese Mañjuśrī Treasure Dhāraṇī Sutra, translated by the monk Bodhiruci, it appears in a sequence such as 怛𭀎他. A dhāraṇī is a sacred Buddhist formula recited aloud; Chinese characters in these passages represent sounds, not their ordinary meanings.
Unicode added the glyph in 2017; that dates its digital encoding, not the start of the written form in Buddhist texts.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𭀎 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
