What 𭛟 means
It opens a place-name; read it as part of the name. The Buddhist text Ritual Manual of Kṣitigarbha uses it at the start of 𭛟羅提耶山. A 2022 digital edition by the Chinese Buddhist Electronic Text Association writes 佉羅提耶山 in the same passage.
SAT traces the glyph to the Taishō Shinshū Daizōkyō, a Japanese printed Buddhist canon published 1924–1934. Its text project proposed the source form for Unicode.
Why might 𭛟 be missing on screen?
Your font may not include this rare character. SAT's Unicode 10.0 character list uses web fonts and warns that unsupported browsers may not display its glyphs. A blank box can signal a font issue, not a different character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𭛟 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
