What 𭶜 means
To preserve a source glyph in digital text. The printed Taishō canon was published in Japan from 1924–1934, after editors checked its text against the Korean Koryŏ canon and other earlier editions. The University of Tokyo’s SAT digital-text project submitted 𭶜 among the characters needed to transcribe that edition. The print date belongs to the book, not to the character’s earliest use.
Why does 𭶜 appear as a blank box?
Your font or browser may lack its glyph. The SAT Unicode 10.0 list used a web font for these rare forms and warned that unsupported browsers might not display them. If it appears as an empty box, that is a rendering problem.

1Why does 𭶜 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
