What 𭺻 means
It writes the verb doeng, “to pass through,” in Standard Zhuang.
Pronounced /toŋ/, it can also mean to unblock, understand, succeed, or communicate.
Sawndip is a character-based writing tradition for Zhuang, spoken chiefly in Guangxi, southern China. It adapts Chinese characters to record Zhuang words; doeng is linked to Chinese 通, “pass through.”
Why are there two spellings of doeng?
Sawndip spelling varies; 甬 is another form of doeng. A 2007 description of the script documents differences between writers.
Tang-era inscriptions from Guangxi provide early evidence of Zhuang character writing, including one dated 682; Song-era accounts (10th–13th centuries) mention local characters in documents. Sawndip also carried songs and ritual texts. Unicode added 𭺻 in 2017; that dates its encoding, not the writing tradition.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𭺻 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
