What 𭼋 means
𭼋 is a variant of 疾, which can mean illness or swiftness.
The standard form 疾 is jí in Mandarin; Japanese readings include shitsu and yamai; Korean Hanja reads it jil (질).
Shang-era oracle-bone writing—divination records carved on animal bones—kept sickness and speed in separate signs: one pictured a person lying ill; another paired a standing person with an arrow for speed. Because the signs sounded alike, they merged in bronze inscriptions, writing cast on ritual vessels, and 疾 came to carry both meanings. A different scholarly interpretation reads the arrow as a person being struck, connecting the graph to injury.

1Why does 𭼋 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
