What 𭼝 means
No single gloss fits without context. In historical Chinese dictionaries, related form 㾨 has Mandarin readings qǐ for mourning or an abscess, yī (also yǐ) for bodily weakness or a skin sore, and ǎi as a variant of 矮, “short.”
What is its earlier history?
The earliest cited dictionary entry for 㾨 dates to 997. Taiwan’s Ministry of Education lists 㾨 in Longkan Shoujing, a Chinese character dictionary compiled by a Buddhist monk. Separately, the University of Tokyo’s digital edition of the Taishō Buddhist canon, a collection of Buddhist scriptures, lists 𭼝 among the forms used to represent its source texts.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𭼝 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
