Literary Chinese Character

𭼻 is a written form related to 癯, a literary Chinese character for someone thin or gaunt. Song, Ming, and Qing examples use it in literary descriptions, where a sentence supplies the exact shade. If the font lacks this glyph, a box may appear.

What 𭼻 means

It describes a thin or gaunt person.

The historical trail spans Song, Ming, and Qing Chinese writing—three successive periods in Chinese history. An early example appears in Wen Yuan Ying Hua, a Song anthology (a collection of literary works); Yi Lin Zheng Yin is a Ming medical book. Qing poems and prose also preserve 𭼻, including a poem that places it where 癯 appears in a contrast between “lean” and “plump.”
