What 𭾂 means
The older 蓋 began as a thatch-covering sign.
In 1988, 佛教難字字典, a dictionary of difficult characters in Buddhist texts, records 𭾂 as the same character as 蓋. Spring and Autumn bronze inscriptions show 蓋. Earlier 盍 meant a vessel lid; adding 艸, the plant component, marked a thatch cover. Later, 蓋 also meant lids, coverings, and the act of covering.
