𭿃 appears within 𭿃健國, a country-name in a version of Xuanzang’s travel record printed in traditional Chinese characters. The account places that polity among the former lands of Tokhara, an old name for a Central Asian region; read the glyph as part of the place-name.

What 𭿃 means

A polity in the old Tokhara region of Central Asia.

The Extension F proposal lists source ID USAT-00387 from the SAT Daizōkyō database, which digitizes the 1924–1934 Taishō collection of Buddhist scriptures. Xuanzang dictated the travel account at the Chinese emperor’s request; his disciple Bianji edited it, and the book was completed in 646.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𭿃 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension F block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
