What 𮇡 means
It recorded Zhuang speech in community and practical settings. Sawndip adapted Chinese character shapes, sounds and meanings to write Zhuang. In 1175, the writer Fan Chengda, describing Guangxi in southern China, noted its use in legal petitions and contracts. A 1876 ritual manuscript includes Sawndip in its account of a mourning ceremony. Historically, it also recorded songs and stories.
