What 𮉈 means
It is a written variant of 縑 for fine silk cloth.
A Tang story, preserved in a Ming-printed edition, uses it in a line about a silk gift. Ouyang Xiu’s poem from the Northern Song dynasty uses it for a painting surface; Ming and Qing texts also mention silk as writing material or payment. Its meaning stays textile; only the cloth’s role changes.
As of 2026-09-27, the BabelStone Han font family’s experimental variant table lists two selector sequences for 𮉈. A variation selector is an invisible character after the ideograph that requests a glyph; fonts without that mapping may show their default form.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𮉈 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
