Han character 2E2EF

5184/7473

𮋯 belongs to Sawndip, the traditional character-based script for Zhuang; its recorded reading nwj is a short sentence particle like “ah.” The Unicode label “Han” identifies its character family, not the language of every passage that uses it.

Text symbol

What 𮋯 means

It is read nwj, a short Zhuang sentence particle like “ah.”

By 1989, Zhuang character references documented nwj as a short sentence particle. Sawndip adapts Han characters for Zhuang sounds or meanings and also forms new characters; context distinguishes this use from others.

Sawndip has been used to write Zhuang since at least the Tang dynasty (618–907); this glyph appears in a 2005 collection of Pingguo Zhuang prose songs. Unicode’s 2017 date marks its encoding, not the start of the tradition. A font without the glyph may show a blank or box.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𮋯 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension F block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
