What 𮔹 means
It represents the Zhuang word daek, meaning “grasshopper.” Sawndip adapts Chinese character forms to write Zhuang speech; this word has several written forms.
A Guangxi stone inscription dated 682 is the earliest example reported for Sawndip; Song-era accounts describe wider use. A Latin-based Zhuang script was introduced in 1955. These dates belong to the script, not to this spelling.
The Zhuang word has related forms for grasshopper in Bouyei, another Tai language, and Thai.
