Horn or Belt Ornament Character

𮗱 is a rare Han character from the Chinese writing tradition. Older records connect it with a horn, a jade fitting on a formal belt, and a hairpin-linked name; the passage tells you which reading fits.

What 𮗱 means

It has a horn gloss and an older belt-ornament use.

The mid-sixth-century Chinese dictionary Yupian glosses 䚢 as “horn.” A Sui-dynasty court-dress passage describes a jade fitting on the emperor’s leather belt. A Korean Hanja dictionary lists 𮗱 as the same character as 䚢.

A classical lexicon also calls 䚢 𧢷, a name later reference works link to a hairpin. Follow the surrounding passage instead of carrying one gloss into every text.
