What 𮝾 means
It is a rare written form of 辰. In Chinese, context supplies its sense.
辰 appears in oracle-bone and bronze inscriptions. Scholars debate its pictured object: a shell tool or a short hoe for clearing weeds. Oracle-bone texts already use 辰 as a calendar branch; later it also named a time of day. A 2024 book on Chinese theater illustrations cites 𮝾 on p. 272; that records the form, not its origin.
