What 𮢲 means
The old gloss belongs to a component, not the whole character.
Chinese Text Project identifies 𡘞 as a component of 𮢲 and glosses it “dustpan, shovel.” A classical dictionary entry describes 𡘞 as a woven carrier made with grass rope for holding soil or grain. It quotes Fangyan (“Regional Words”), a regional-vocabulary book compiled in the early first century CE, which lists distinct names for shovels: 臿 in Jianghuai and southern Chu, 𡘞 in Yuan-Xiang, 喿 in Zhao-Wei, and 梩 in eastern Qi. This is the component’s history, not a confirmed reading or meaning for the whole ideograph.
Why can 𮢲 show as a box?
One app may lack a font that covers 𮢲.
In 2018, a Windows 10 user reported that Weasel, the Rime input method, showed 𮢲 as a box in the chosen font. After installing HanaMin-B, Chrome displayed it without extra setup. The report shows this CJK Extension F character rendering differently across two apps in that setup.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𮢲 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
