What 𮤑 means
It keeps a source glyph distinct in a digital collection. A text project at the University of Tokyo proposed 𮤑 for its searchable edition of the Taishō New Revised Buddhist Canon, a large printed collection of Buddhist scriptures.
An early Chinese character dictionary, 《說文解字》, defines 闕 as a palace gate tower; classical texts also use the regular character for a gap, fault, or omission. A transcription note on the preface to 『産論翼』, a Japanese medical work, identifies 𮤑 as a written variant of 闕 in the deficiency sense.
