What 𮦯 means
It spells Zhuang byaj: “thunder” or “lightning.” In traditional Zhuang songs, byaj can also name the thunder deity.
Sawndip adapted Chinese forms to write Zhuang. It served songs, notes and ritual texts read by local priests. A stone inscription from 683 is among its early records. Scholars commonly date its formation to the Tang dynasty; one proposal traces it to the Qin-Han period. Those dates concern the writing tradition, not when 𮦯 entered use. Forms and readings vary by region.
