What 𮩛 means
It is 饆’s simplified variant, the first character in 饆饠.
What was 饆饠?
Later definitions call it a flour dish; its recipe is debated.
An early dictionary citation is attributed to Yupian, a Chinese character dictionary from the sixth century; its wording is absent from surviving fragments and appears in later editions. Tang dynasty writings mention tavern servings and a cherry version.
One explanation traces the name from the sound-based spelling 畢羅 to 饆饠, with a food-signifying component added. Later records describe filled flour cakes; other proposals suggest Central Asian pilaf or a baked, filled pie. Xi’an cooks recreated the cherry version in the 1980s from historical descriptions.

1Why does 𮩛 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
