In Simplified Chinese, 𮬤 names a needlefish, a fish with a long, pointed jaw. The traditional form 鱵 appears in a surviving fish-section fragment of Yupian, a Chinese character dictionary compiled in 543. The 1983 edition of Contemporary Chinese Dictionary records 𮬤 as the simplified form.
