What 𮭅 means
In Microsoft Word for Windows, type 2EB45 and press Alt+X.
As of 2026-09-27, Word for Windows converts Unicode hexadecimal input with Alt+X. If other hexadecimal text touches the code, select only 2EB45 first so Word converts the intended value.
If it appears as an empty box, your font may not include this rare glyph; as of 2026-09-27, Word recommends trying a font that does.
What does 𮭅 mean?
It is a rare Han character linked to Japanese administrative records.
Unicode’s Extension F proposal gives it the Japanese source reference JMJ-060359; the IRG source list identifies JMJ with the Moji Jōhō Kiban Project (文字情報基盤整備事業).
Japan’s character-information project began in fiscal 2010 to help public systems handle the many kanji in personal names and exchange records. Unicode added this character through Extension F in 2017: that dates its computer encoding, not the written form’s beginning.
Questions people ask
1Why does 𮭅 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
