What does 𮭶 mean?
It is a rare variant of 麗: “beautiful” or “elegant.”
麗 is much older than this particular form. Early examples appear in oracle-bone inscriptions—records written on animal bones and turtle shells—and bronze inscriptions. One scholarly account reads the early shape as a deer’s paired antlers: an oracle-bone use carries the sense “two” or “a pair,” and the later “beautiful” sense is linked to those antlers. In Japanese, 麗 is a common kanji read rei or uruwashii.
