Text symbol

What 𮷇 means

Its recorded sense is unruly or “wild” speech.

Mandarin reads it luò. The fuller form 𧭥 appears in personal names inscribed on ritual bronze vessels in late Western Zhou China, an early kingdom. The later Chinese pronunciation dictionary Guangyun, which groups characters by rhyme, glosses 𧭥詤 as “wild speech.”

Why might the glyph show as a box?

The selected font may lack this glyph.

Unicode’s code chart says its sample shapes do not prescribe the form every font must use. GNU Unifont 18.0.01 covers all of Extension I, including 𮷇, so a font with that coverage can display it.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𮷇 show as a box on some devices?

It is recent: Unicode added it in version 15.1 (2023), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
