What 𰃡 means
It means “to part” or “separate” in Old Zhuang. Its reading “biek” is Zhuang, not Mandarin pinyin.
Sawndip was built to write Zhuang with borrowed and recombined Chinese-character forms; spellings vary by region and period. Records include contracts, petitions, ritual songs, folk songs and letters.
A 2013 account dates Sawndip’s oldest known surviving inscription to 682, at Shanglin, Guangxi. This glyph’s source is the 1989 Ancient Zhuang Character Dictionary; standardized Latin-based Zhuang writing followed in 1955.
