What 𰅋 means

𰅋 spells baeg: “tired” or “gasping for breath.”

Sawndip builds on Chinese characters and their parts. It never standardized one spelling per Zhuang word. Vietnam’s distinct chữ Nôm script adapted Chinese writing for Vietnamese.

Sawndip developed over time. The Zhicheng stele of 697 mixes Chinese and local Zhuang characters; scholars debate whether such early records count as Sawndip. Later texts include rituals, songs, stories, and contracts. In 1957, an official Latin-based Zhuang alphabet took many formal roles; Sawndip stayed in traditional literature and personal notes.
