What 𰍖 means
𰍖 is a form of 寣, a Chinese character for startled waking. The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese character dictionary compiled in the Eastern Han, glosses 寣 as “startled awake while lying down.” It analyzes the graph as a shortened “dream” element plus 言, the speech component.
The same entry also records a child’s wail and a Henei-area use meaning “call to someone.” A Qing-era annotation by Duan Yucai reports the Jiangsu expression 睡一寣 (“sleep for a spell”), preserving a regional sleep sense as well.
Someone sent 𰍖 alone; which sense fits?
A single 𰍖 cannot settle which sense the sender intends. With no surrounding phrase, use the message context or ask the sender.
Questions people ask
1Why does 𰍖 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
