What 𰒜 means

It records the Zhuang word mbok. Standard Zhuang spells the same word with Latin letters.

Where does Sawndip come from?

Sawndip adapts Chinese character forms to write Zhuang. Its beginnings are debated. Tang-era stone inscriptions dated 682 and 697 contain local nonstandard characters; Song-era accounts mention vernacular characters in Guangxi legal documents. The Vietnamese script chữ Nôm is a separate, parallel adaptation of Chinese writing for Vietnamese. This form appears in the Dictionary of Ancient Zhuang Characters (1989).
