What 𰙽 means
It is an alternate spelling, not a new word. The 1977 second-round Chinese simplification plan aimed to make some characters easier to write: it proposed 𰅰 as a shorter form of the component 直 and carried it into 𰙽 for 殖, alongside proposed forms for 值, 植, and 置. In Mandarin, 殖 is read zhí and appears in words such as 繁殖 (“reproduce”). This reform was specific to the People’s Republic of China’s writing policy.
A historical reform form; its intended character is clear: 殖.
The plan was withdrawn in 1986; use 殖 in standard Chinese writing.
