What 𰞇 means
It means “bright,” with a fire-related sense. Unihan links 𰞇 to 燡 as a traditional-variant counterpart. Older Chinese references describe 燡 as fire burning strongly or as a radiant appearance.
The 2015 IRG submission cites Hanyu Da Zidian, a large Chinese character dictionary, volume 4, page 2355, figure 536, as the glyph source.
Why does 𰞇 show as a box?
A font without its glyph may show a box or blank. Unicode’s display guidance describes those as missing-glyph symptoms. As of 2026, Noto Sans CJK KR’s published coverage lists Extension F but not Extension G, where this character belongs; that list does not document support for it.
Why can UTF-16 split 𰞇?
UTF-16 represents it with two 16-bit code units. UTF-16 is a text encoding that uses a pair for characters above U+FFFF. Software that counts units instead of Unicode characters can split the pair, even though the text contains one ideograph.
