What 𰠶 means
Its oldest core sense was “military leader.” Chinese dictionaries show 將 in oracle-bone and bronze inscriptions, then seal script and Qin-era manuscripts. Oracle-bone writing was carved on animal bones or turtle shells.
Classical texts also use 將 for carrying, helping, leading, and an action about to happen.
