What 𰡨 means
It is an older form linked to 狷, glossed as hasty. A Chinese character commentary from the Ming-period glosses 𰡨 as “quick to leap” or “hasty.” It links the form to 狷, saying the later spelling uses 肙, a component that hints at sound more clearly than 瞏, the older form’s right-hand component.
The Analects, a classic collection of Confucian teachings, says 狷者有所不為: a person of 狷 observes limits on what they will do. The passage pairs 狷 with 狂, who presses forward; neither reaches the ideal middle course.
