What 𰣣 means
Chinese 肿 (“swelling”) is a useful meaning clue.
The recorded Zhuang reading is cungh; 肿 is a separate Chinese character.
What is Sawndip?
Sawndip is a square-character script for writing Zhuang.
It adapts Chinese characters and parts to write Zhuang. Its beginnings are debated: Tang-era inscriptions provide early surviving evidence, while Song-era records describe broad use.
Its texts include ritual scriptures, songs, stories, contracts, family records and place names. The 1989 Ancient Zhuang Character Dictionary (古壮字字典) documents this form. Standardized Zhuang also uses a Latin-based script, developed in the 1950s and revised in the 1980s.
