What 𰧟 means
It means “gravel.” Its recorded reading is req. Sawndip is a Chinese-derived character script for Zhuang, a language spoken in southern China and part of the Tai family.
The 1989 Dictionary of Old Zhuang Characters records 𬒞𰧟. Traditional forms vary by region and were used for songs, stories, moral teaching, notes, and texts recited by local priests.
Its history is debated: one scholarly view places the script in the Tang dynasty; another proposes an earlier Qin–Han beginning. Surviving inscriptions provide external evidence.
Why might 𰧟 show as a box?
The active font may lack this glyph. BabelStone Han 16.0.3 (2025) covers only part of Extension G, so a blank box can reflect font support.

1Why does 𰧟 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
