What 𰴮 means
It grew by adapting existing signs and making new ones.
Sawndip adapted Chinese characters or their parts and created new forms to write Zhuang. Its oldest surviving inscription is a Tang stone carving dated 682. The 1989 Ancient Zhuang Character Dictionary records 𰴮 as 訁 plus 亘.
Sawndip appears in ritual books, songs, stories, contracts, family records, and place names. A Latin-based writing plan for Zhuang was published in 1955 and revised in 1982.
