What 𲇡 means
It marks a kana value in the cipher.
Shinobi iroha replaces Japanese kana—the signs used to write sounds—with cipher signs. Its 49 signs pair seven left-side parts with seven right-side parts, in the order of the traditional iroha poem, a sequence of Japanese syllables. Here 𲇡 is assigned to the katakana sound symbol セ (“se”).
Was it used in real messages?
That is unconfirmed.
As of 2023, no surviving coded message was known to confirm its kana key. The 1676 manual preserves the signs but does not give a complete decoding key, so “se” remains an interpretation of the table.
A specialized historical code sign.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𲇡 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
