What 㟋 means
It can name a mountain or describe a valley. Taiwan's Ministry of Education Dictionary of Chinese Character Variants records 㟋 as a mountain name. It gives 㟋𡼾 for a mountain's appearance, while the reversed 𡼾㟋 describes a broad stretch of hills or a deep, level ravine. These are paired literary forms; reversing their order changes the sense.
In the Eastern Han, Ma Rong's 長笛賦, a long poetic work about the flute, includes the related form 𡷋 in a line about ravines. The 2024 Taiwan dictionary says 㟋 is not recorded in 說文, an older Chinese character dictionary, and traces its record through 玉篇, 廣韻, and 集韻.
As of 2026, fonts can display 㟋 with different-looking strokes. That is a display difference, not evidence of a different meaning.

Questions people ask
1Why does 㟋 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
