What 㪅 means
It represents “change” or “alter” as an older form of 更.
The word represented by 更 is attested in oracle-bone inscriptions (carved on bone or shell) and Western Zhou bronze inscriptions (from an early Chinese dynasty). The origin of 更 is debated: doubled 丙 may suggest succession; 丙 with 攴, a component associated with striking, has been read as a whip-related graph. Later uses include replacement, night watch, and “more”; clerical script, an early official writing style, shaped standard 更.
If 㪅 appears as a square or blank, the font lacks this glyph; the text remains 㪅.
Historical, chiefly in sources or variant references.
Do not substitute 更 when preserving an exact source.

Questions people ask
1Why does 㪅 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
