What 㭉 means
Some Chu slips use 㭉 to write 衢, “a major road.”
These are bamboo slips—narrow pieces tied together to make a text—from the Warring States period, when Chu was one of several states in China. A 2025 study reads 㭉 this way in phrases about a central road and a “heavenly road”; in another passage it proposes 瞿, a word for looking around in alarm. These are readings proposed for particular passages, not meanings that apply to every use of 㭉.
Are the oracle-bone signs really the same character?
Some scholars connect them to 㭉, but the link is uncertain.
Oracle-bone writing is an early Chinese script carved on animal bones and turtle shells. Traditional Chinese dictionaries analyze 㭉 as 木, the wood or tree component, plus a picture-like upper part, and define it as a two-edged digging tool. Scholars have identified some oracle-bone signs as 㭉, but they may be lookalikes with separate histories. A blurry bronze clan emblem is also hard to connect to 㭉.

Questions people ask
1Why does 㭉 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
