㰫

cjk unified ideograph-3c2b

Chinese character 㰫

2092/6592

㰫 means “glad” or “joyful”; a second dictionary gloss links it to 惏, whose older senses include greed and cold. These meanings do not show that the characters share a written origin.

What 㰫 means

An old dictionary records two explanations.

Taiwan's Ministry of Education notes in its 2024 Variants Dictionary that 說文, an early Chinese character dictionary, omits 㰫; it cites 玉篇, another old dictionary, for the meanings.

欣 means glad or joyful; 惏 also has old senses of greed and cold. These are meaning links, not proof that 㰫 was formed from either written character.

A historical dictionary character with two distinct glosses.

If a box replaces 㰫, the font may lack support; a Japanese dictionary notes display variation in its 2024 entry.

1

Why does 㰫 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
