What 㳬 means
It means a swirling current, eddy, or whirlpool.
Shuowen Jiezi, an old Chinese character dictionary, describes a spring or current that turns back. It analyzes 㳬 as the water element plus a shortened form of 旋, the character for “turn,” used for its sound.
A paleographic reconstruction traces a rotating-water ancestor through oracle-bone inscriptions, bronze inscriptions, and seal script. Oracle-bone inscriptions were written on bone and shell; bronze inscriptions appeared on bronze objects; seal script is a formal early Chinese writing style. This is a proposed lineage, not an inventor story. Later literary examples use 漩 for dangerous currents in gorges.

Questions people ask
1Why does 㳬 show as a box?
The character is valid, but your active font may not include its drawing. Try a CJK font with broader character coverage; the box alone does not show that the source spelling is wrong.
