What 㶙 means
No single reading or meaning is settled.
One Chinese dictionary gives the Mandarin reading ruí (roughly “rway,” with a rising tone) and identifies 㶙 with 蕤賓. It uses 㶙賓 for a pitch two octaves above 蕤賓. Taiwan’s CNS entry gives another Mandarin reading, mǒu (roughly “mou,” with a low, dipping tone), without a gloss; a Japanese dictionary lists the meaning as unknown. Treat the music gloss as specialist, not settled.
Where does 㶙's music link come from?
It comes from an old Chinese tuning system.
The earliest cited written record of the twelve-pitch system is 《國語》, a Chinese historical text dated to 522 BCE. Bamboo pipes of different lengths set the pitches. In the traditional calendar, 蕤賓 names one pitch and the fifth lunar month, which includes the Dragon Boat Festival. This history explains the music gloss, not when 㶙 itself first appeared.
Specialist and historical; a poor fit for casual conversation.
Do not present its music gloss as a settled meaning.

A box usually means the active font cannot draw the glyph. Taiwan’s CNS page stated in 2024 that Windows 10 and later include it, but another font or device may still lack it.
