What 㷫 means
It means “hot,” “feverish,” or “angry,” depending on context.
With weather, skin, or food, 㷫 describes physical heat; with a quarrel or insult, it describes anger. In formal written Chinese, 熱 is the usual word for “hot,” so 㷫 marks a Cantonese written form.
The Chinese rhyme dictionary Jiyun glosses 㷫 as “dry by fire.” A later traditional dictionary lists it as a variant of 熨 under a different reading. Cantonese uses the same graph for heat and the related idea of anger or fierceness.
Why did someone send me 㷫?
They may mean physical heat or anger; the surrounding words decide.
A weather or body comment stays literal; a complaint, insult, or person who has provoked the sender points to “angry,” “furious,” or “fierce.” Heat-to-anger is an established Cantonese metaphor.
Casual written Cantonese; familiar to Cantonese readers and marked in formal standard Chinese.
After an argument, do not read it as weather; it may mean “I’m furious.”
