What 㺵 means
Enter MGNO with the Cangjie input method.
Cangjie is an input method for Chinese characters; MGNO is the code listed for 㺵. If the glyph shows as a box, the font lacks it; switch to one with broad Chinese, Japanese, or Korean coverage. Windows 10 and later default fonts include 㺵 as of 2026.
What does 㺵 mean?
It is a written variant of 玖.
The older Chinese character dictionary Shuowen defines 玖 as a black stone ranked below jade; 㺵 is another written form of that word. The Jin-era character dictionary 四聲篇海 describes 㺵 as looking like black jade. Reworked around 1208, the dictionary survives in a 1212 printing; a later supplement to the Kangxi Dictionary preserves the same gloss.
Specialist and historical in register; useful when preserving a source’s exact spelling.
Do not silently replace 㺵 with 玖 in an exact transcription.

1Questions people ask
1Why does 㺵 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
