What 㺺 means
㺺 is an old form of 瑁, a ceremonial jade token.
At court, a visiting lord carried a pointed jade tablet called 圭. The ruler held 瑁; its hollowed underside fit over the tablet’s point, checking that the ritual tokens matched.
The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese dictionary compiled in the Eastern Han, records 㺺 as a shortened ancient form of 瑁. Later dictionaries also list 𤣽 as another old form.
Which form should I use?
Use 㺺 when the historical spelling matters.
㺺 and 瑁 name the same ritual object; 瑁 is the usual dictionary form for modern Chinese lookup and writing. Some transmitted ritual passages also write 冒 for that jade token, though 冒 has other meanings on its own.
Archaic and specialized: expect it in historical dictionaries and ritual-text discussion, not ordinary modern prose.
For ordinary modern writing, use 瑁; reserve 㺺 for the historical form.

2Why does 㺺 show as a box?
That is a font-coverage problem: some fonts omit rare Han characters. A font with this glyph should display the same character; the box is only a placeholder.
Can I use 㺺 in modern Chinese?
For ordinary modern writing, use 瑁. Choose 㺺 when you are quoting the historical spelling or discussing old dictionary forms.
