What 䃝 means
It describes a stone with an uneven, rugged surface. In Mandarin, qiào sounds roughly like “chyaow,” with a falling tone.
The earliest named source is 玉篇, a Chinese dictionary tradition begun in 543; later dictionaries 集韻 and 類篇 were completed in 1039 and 1066. These dates do not prove that a manuscript from 543 contains this exact form.

1Why does 䃝 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
