CJK ideograph 䎝

Text symbol

What 䎝 means

It means “to soar” or “fly upward.” 䎝 is a written variant of 翥, so it carries that character’s flight meaning. The early Chinese dictionary Shuowen Jiezi defines 翥 as a bird rising into flight; it does not give 䎝 a separate headword.

The historical rhyme dictionary Guangyun, which groups characters by sound, records 翥 alongside 䬡 in a flight-related entry. Much later, a Qianlong-era court poem uses 翥鶴 for cranes in flight.

A literary, reference-text form; 翥 is the more familiar dictionary headword.

A box instead of 䎝 points to missing glyph support, not a new meaning.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 䎝 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
