What 䏫 means
A thin abdomen; some records name the space between belly and spine.
An early Chinese dictionary records 脙 as a regional Qi word for a thin or emaciated abdomen; Qi was an ancient Chinese state. Later records also give the space between abdomen and spine as a sense and say this use was originally written 䏫. That is why dictionaries differ over whether 䏫 is a variant of 脙 or the original form for this sense. The encoding date marks computer standardization, not the word’s beginning.
why does 䏫 look wrong?
A blank box usually means your font lacks 䏫. If the character is missing, the gap says nothing about its meaning.
Fonts for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text can show different regional shapes for the same Han character. A change in strokes does not by itself mean the text contains a different character; check the character’s identity if the distinction matters.
how can I type 䏫?
Enter its Unicode value with an input method that supports Unicode.
In Word or Outlook, type 43EB and press AltX. On Linux, press CtrlShiftU, type 43EB, then press Enter; on macOS, enable Unicode Hex Input, hold Option, and type 43EB.
A Chinese Pinyin input method may not offer this uncommon form under the spelling xiū. A dictionary search for 脙 may find the related entry; use 43EB when the exact encoded form matters.
A specialized historical Chinese word with anatomical meanings; alone, it gives little context for a sender’s tone.
If it arrives alone, ask what text it came from before guessing at intent.

Questions people ask
1Why does 䏫 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
